My name is Mia and I have been a shy person for the most of my life. A few years ago, I had some issues and was diagnosed with depression. I had lost most of my friends and I had no one to talk to.
My therapist helped me by forcing me to role play the situations I fear the most. This helped me get exposed to social settings and reduce blushing and sweating. I slowly started getting out of my comfort zone and speaking with people. I even learned “the art of the small talk”.
I am still not a very social person but now I have a small (but trusted) circle of friends who are there for me whenever I need. We meet in crowded places, we even go out a few times a month.
I started writing this blog to help other people who are shy like me. I make up role play scripts to help my readers get exposed to several social situations.
Some of us are introverted, some are called “socially inept” or even “socially awkward”. I know these names are all cynical and negative. At the end we are just human and we want people to respect who we are. But first, we need to love and accept ourselves.
